Our
latest scrimshaw ornament celebrates Dymond City and the quaint
little J&W railroad engine that pulled passengers to and from
Jamesville and Washington. Traveling across the forested
area between the towns and through Dymond City must have been an
adventure. Legend has it that little train's passengers were
sometimes asked to get out along the way and collect wood to be
used as fuel for the boiler! The ride must have been less
than smooth, too, since it's also told that passengers had their
own name for the J&W....the "Jiggle and Wiggle."
The artwork for this scrimshaw is
from
Bailey Phelps' Martin County series of black and white
prints. Be sure and add this latest addition of the Christmas
ornament collection to your own collection....or give it as a
special gift! |
